Quote of the Week

Welcome to the first episode of my new series, Quote of the Week, where I’ll be sharing quotes linked to sustainability and climate action. 🌱💡

During a recent team event, we were celebrating a major win, and a colleague asked me how I manage to compartmentalize. They asked because I’m Lebanese, and as some of you may know, Lebanon is currently facing an incredibly difficult time – with hundreds of people dying and thousands displaced. Sadly, it’s not the only country experiencing this level of suffering.

I heard this at the Climate Reality Training in Rome back in June, and it’s stayed with me. It resonated with most of the audience, and I find myself thinking about it even more these days for two reasons.

Every generation has a challenge or accomplishment that defines it. Today, our global challenge is the climate crisis 🌍. It's overwhelming, yes, but it's also our opportunity. Just like generations before us, we too have a chance to make a difference.

Imagine this: It’s the year 2050. Think of a child in your life that you care about. Now, add 25 years to their age—how old will they be? What kind of world will they inherit?

Does that resonate with you? 👀 It got me thinking—how often do I try to teach or convince others (at work, on climate action, etc.) rather than let them come to their own insights? 🤔

Today, in a world of endless distractions, the truth is easy to ignore. But when it comes to important issues—whether climate, equality, or wellness—sometimes we just need to keep repeating the message. And that’s okay. 💪

Let’s take this to heart. We can feel disappointed, but then we have to move forward. One step at a time, that’s how real change happens.

Not something you hear every day, right? But those were the words my boss at the time, Roeland Baaijens , said to me when I brought him a request that I thought would face immediate pushback—or even be laughed off.

This week, my team played the classic team-building game Two Truths and a Lie. It was all about getting to know each other better, and one quote from the day stuck with me: "Do I even know you?"
